“NLFS Duo Conquer Everest for Education & Zero Food Waste”

“Fr. Bibin CST and Mr. Anto Thomas Lead Himalayan Trek for Education & Waste Reduction”

In a stirring testament to their commitment to social responsibility and adventure, Fr. Bibin CST, Director of the Nepal Little Flower Society (NLFS), and Mr. Anto Thomas, a dedicated social worker, have achieved an extraordinary feat by conquering the Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar Trek. Their mission, driven by a dual commitment to advancing education for Nepalese children and minimizing food waste, has captured the hearts and minds of communities across Nepal.

The expedition, which commenced on April 2nd from NLFS’s Narayangarh campus, saw the duo embarking on a 470-kilometer drive to Tamdada before setting foot on the trek to Everest Base Camp on April 3rd. Battling through rugged terrain, they reached Surke on April 4th after 3.5 hours of trekking, covering an impressive 20 kilometers in 11 hours.

Undeterred by the challenges, Fr. Bibin and Mr. Anto pressed on, journeying from Namchebazar to Pengoche on April 5th, scaling three steep mountains along the route, and paying homage to Everest climbers’ memorials and the statue of Charapati Shivaji at Goraksheep on April 6th.

Their ultimate leg of the expedition commenced on April 7th, as they ascended to the awe-inspiring heights of Kalapathar at 5644 meters, before descending to Everest Base Camp at 5364 meters. What sets their accomplishment apart is the remarkable pace at which they completed the ascent – a mere 3 days and 6 hours, a feat typically spanning 7 days.

Throughout their arduous journey, Fr. Bibin and Mr. Anto actively advocated for “Education for All” and “Zero Waste Food,” engaging with tourists and locals alike. Their message resonated deeply, underscoring the critical link between education accessibility and societal progress.

The ‘Education for All’ and ‘Zero Waste Food’ campaign epitomizes NLFS’s dedication to addressing multifaceted challenges faced by communities in Nepal. Through their efforts, Father Bibin CST, Anto Thomas, and the entire NLFS team are paving the way for positive change, one step at a time.

Looking ahead, Fr. Bibin revealed plans to distribute campaign materials and establish schools in remote areas, building upon NLFS’s ongoing efforts to promote education across Nepal. Presently, NLFS is establishing schools in five locations, including Seheri in Narayangarh and Nawalparasi districts.

Fr. Bibin and Mr. Anto’s expedition epitomizes the fusion of adventure with noble causes, embodying the spirit of “Education for All” and “Zero Waste Food” advocacy. Their journey serves as a beacon of inspiration, igniting conversations and driving positive change in communities across Nepal.
